About Our Programs

Key Community Initiatives and Partnerships
  • State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) - A non-partisan committee made up of representatives from each of the eight NJ Leagues who join together to take action on select state and national public issues. Specifically, they advocate for initiatives and legislation to improve the quality of life for women and children; improve the quality of education; and improve the environment.   • Children’s Health and Wellness Initiative - Develop and implement fun interactive workshops to educate children on healthy lifestyles including exercise, nutrition, and positive body image.
  • Daytop Project - Each year the New Member Class develops and conducts an activity with the female residents at Daytop Village. Past activities have provided residents with: yoga workshops, self-esteem workshops, and art activities. Daytop is located in Mendham, New Jersey, and offers an alcohol and drug treatment program addressing the needs of adolescents.
  • Done in a Day Projects (DIAD) - Each year we partner with local nonprofits to develop and implement projects that address critical issues in our community and can be completed in a short period of time (a day or less) to offer an immediate impact. Past partners include: Jersey Battered Women’s Service, American Cancer Society, Morristown Community Soup Kitchen, Interfaith Council for Homeless Families, Community Children’s Museum, and
    Neighborhood House.
  • Kids in the Kitchen Projects - League members develop and implement hands-on healthy cooking workshops for children between the ages of 5-12.
  • Voluntarism Scholarships - The JLM awards four $2,500 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and one $2,500 scholarship to a woman 40 years of age or older planning to attend or currently attending college.  Click here for more information.
  • The Nearly New Shop - In operation since 1961, the Nearly New Shop is a resale and consignment shop owned and operated by the Junior League of Morristown, offering the community a place to shop for affordable high-quality resale clothing, furniture, and household goods, including women's clothing, men's clothing, children's clothing, household goods, children's toys, and more
  • Community Advisory Board - An advisory partnership with leaders of area non-profits, educational institutions, small businesses and corporations. Members include: Joann Bjornson, Executive Director, Interfaith Council for Homeless Families; MaryJo Buchanan, Director, County of Morris Department of Human Services; Terry Connolly, Executive Director, Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown; John Franklin, CEO, United Way of Morris County; Steven Miller, Executive Director, The Morris Museum; Elizabeth Parker, Co-Publisher and Executive Editor, The Recorder Newspapers; Patrice Picard, Executive Director, Family Service of Morris County; Laurie-Litt Robbins, Executive Director, Eric Johnson House; David Walker, Executive Director, Morristown Neighborhood House.
